Well friends, I have to admit…I know nothing about football. I do however, know a lot about food. Let’s face it, if you’re not at the party to watch football, you’re there to eat. There is nothing better than seeing a huge spread of dips, appetizers and other treats, and of course trying as many as you can.

The beauty of this recipe is that it really is super easy and versatile. Forgot to pull your brisket out of the freezer the night before, no biggie, this can be cooked low and slow on high. Prefer to finish in the oven or grill to give that brisket an extra char, or slice it directly out of the slow cooker. For this recipe, I prefer to use a dry rub versus lots of sauce because you are not drying the brisket out in the slow cooker.
I start with a 5 to 6 pound Heartland Beef Co. Prime Angus beef brisket and pull it out several hours before cooking. I also use Heartland Beef Co. Ranch rub and a Pepsi. Yes you heard, me a Pepsi. It makes for a sweet flavor when slow cooking brisket. Add a little brown sugar and garlic powder, set your slow cooker and wait.
When finishing in the oven or on a grill, I make a barbecue glaze to help crisp up the outside of the brisket before serving. For the sauce, I add more ranch rub, brown sugar, honey, and equal parts BBQ sauce and water. Heat the sauce on the stove or in the microwave twice in one minute increments for a perfect finishing glaze.
Now, if you’re short on time or it’s just your preference, you can take that finished brisket directly from the slow cooker and slice and serve. You will have some juice leftover from cooking to spoon over the sliced pieces for extra flavor.

The Ultimate Tender and Juicy Slow Cooker Brisket
- 1 Slow Cooker
- 1 5-6 pound Heartland Beef Co. Prime Angus Brisket
- 4 tbsp Heartland Beef Co. Ranch Rub
- 1 can Pepsi
- 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp Garlic powder
- Season the brisket generously on both sides with the Ranch Rub.
- Add Pepsi, brown sugar, and garlic powder to the slow cooker and stir well.
- Place the brisket in the slow cooker and cover.
- Cook on high for 4 to 6 hours or low for 8 to 10 hours.
